Johnnie was settled in 1890 by prospectors looking for the Lost Breyfogle Mine. It grew to 300
people by 1907 but declined after that. Gold was mined off and on for 30 years after that. Two
ladies who built the Saddle West in Pahrump opened the Gold Pan Casino there in the 1980s. It was
furnished with stuff they bought from the Horseshoe in Las Vegas when they remodeled. My
girlfriend actually hit a $1000 royal flush there. The place burned to the ground shortly after I
took these pictures. There was an antique/bottle store next door. Butch Cassidy was rumored to
have worked in the mines after he returned from Bolivia. Johnnie is is a few miles north of Pahrump.
