Sooooo..... My wife decided that we should be a vendor at the annual Boulder City, Spring Jamboree. I said OK and asked what she had in mind to sell? She said, well, we have some furniture items, so we can set-up in the "antiques" area. And add some older board games, Barbie dolls, and (surprise, surprise) some casino mugs, ashtrays, playing cards, and GULP!!! chips!!!!!!
Turns out, we were not alone with chips, ashtrays and playing cards! We sold a little bit of everything, except chips (whew)! It was interesting that ashtrays were bought as coasters. Mugs were bought as memories. One couple bought a pair of Sands mugs as a memory of their wedding there some 35 years ago. Playing cards were bought as memories and not to play cards at home.
The event was fun and the weather was so wonderful, we have a very pleasant weekend. Rich Burgel had a booth just several vendors away, and he did pizza for us on Saturday and Pam did homemade sandwiches on Sunday. Rich Klabacha, Phil Jensen, Alan King (and son) all stopped by and said Hello!
Aside from what I bought, I was very lucky in that in the "Chamber of Commerce" section, both the Railroad Pass casino and Golden Ent. (Colorado Belle, Edgewater and Aquarius casinos) had booths and gave out goodies. Playing cards from all and the Colorado Belle offered pairs of dice. However, the dice, while canceled, were re-wrapped into sticks of 5 and the attendants were opening the sticks, and putting mixed serial dice on the table. I asked for a complete stick and they were kind enough to say, Yes!!!
So, here is my haul...
