receiving e-mails from e-bay buyers such as this (in reference to a $25 Thunderbird Horsehead Right Mold):
Dear stiv17,
Is this a legit chip or a fan made chip? Thanks
- pokermcmahon
There are so many fantasy/personal chips out there that novice collectors can't tell the difference between a real and a fake. the problem has become so bad that collectors feel the need to ask this question before they make a purchase, probably because they have been burned in the past.
The hobby takes a hard-line stance against slabbing, which if done right, would ensure the legitimacy of chips, yet homemade chips are freely sold, encouraged, posterized, and chipguided. In light of the anti-slabbing position many have taken, holding contests and promoting "fan made" chips is not only hypocritical, but also very detrimental to the hobby.
here are my "legit" chips, thanks for looking
