They were discussed a few years ago on the chipboard. They came is several different version - the all black like you show and several different partially black versions. The most popular story was that each type was handed out by different hawkers trying to get folks to come into the club and they would get paid by the number of their chips redeemed. I don't think we ever got a confirmation on it but it sounded reasonable.
