Many of these were originally from France ~~~

~~~ and possibly from Spain as well.

Some of these were larger plaques and cut into three sections.

Some of the rounds were reground; removing original engraving and new engravings added.

Some were also recolored as well.

We know of examples in which portions of original monograms still exist, and some of those still have portions of the F (franc) remaining.

...and, with even other examples we can see where either the original serial numbers were ground away and/or new serial numbers added; in some cases having two serial numbers... and in sloppy work the new engraving was added upside down in relation to the serial number where it appears it was the serial number being upside down...
