I am always interested in "Errors" on chips that happen in the manufacturing process. I recently acquired the Sierra Tahoe Dealer's School $1 Chips shown below. Both sides of all the chips are shown below.
All the chips show the $1 aligned in all different directions, off-center, sideways, upside down, etc. and in different positions from one side of the chip to the other. No two chips are exactly alike in the positioning of the $1 on both sides
My question is - How did this happen ?? Was the $1 in the center some how struck separately after the other writing is already on the chip ?? Why would they do this ?? Is the center part of the die movable - causing rotation of the $1 ??
What do you think happened here ?? The Chips do NOT appear to be double struck.
I also have some $5.00 chips from the Sierra Tahoe Dealers School and they are ALL perfectly centered on both sides ?? (SEE SCAN BELOW)
Any comments would be appreciated !!
Take care,
Jerry
