Re: Weekend Finds at Pasadena College

Fred...I know a guy who is 94 years old. His older brother played baseball with Jackie Robinson at UCLA. This guy has tremendous stories.
He was a starting infielder for UCLA....when Jackie Robinson came in and took over his spot...so he left his position and starting pitching.
Unfortunately this young man drowned in 1940 after rescuing a swimmer. I am told that he had rescued the swimmer and went back into the water to retrieve something left out there (a hat....I believe?). And never made it back in.

This 94 year old man has many pictures and autographs of Jackie Robinson from when his brother played with him. He has on of Jackie in a basketball uniform....autographed to his late brother. (It has to be from 1939-40.
If you enlarge the picture...it Is autographed. I have done work for this guy an have seen all these artifacts. They should be in a museum.

These 2 images are from the Daily Republic newspaper.
