I have both and some others. I like the Epson better, and if this one goes, I'll get another V###, nothing against Canon either, just the Epson has been the best of many different brands for cost and quality. I don't think I've ever had a scanner go bad, usually just get a newer better one before they break.

Any CCD scanner should give better color results than CIS or CMOS. Although there are changes in technology, the general rule could change.
