I found this chip at the Casinorama Super Show and was intrigued by the quotation...

A couple of quick Google searches and I discovered the following... the complete quote is,
"Fortune is a great deceiver. She sells very dear the things she seems to give us."

It was written by Vincent Voiture, a French poet, writer and diplomat (and very likely a gambler)
who lived from 1597-1648.
