if you have to replace I believe Epson has a V550 and a V600 newer model..I just looked on their website and they have a refurbished V550 for 120.00. Nothing wrong with refurbished, thats how I bought my V500 12 years ago, maybe longer, still going strong. Their V39 for 70 bucks will give you the same scan quality as the V500
