Patterson, NJ was a sort of Silicon Valley in the early 20th century. Interesting tidbit (I think) is that early factories were multistory structures because they had a central power plant and then distributed that power via axles and belts. I'll see lots of these old red brick buildings today as I take the train from NYC to attend my niece's birthday party in NJ. The invention of the fractional horsepower electric motor then changed the shape of factory buildings.
Anyway.... in Patterson in a small square next to Passaic Falls is a statue of Lou Costello.
