I've heard placing one or two sheets of paper in the envelope around the packed chip helps with some stability (keeping the envelope from possibly tearing in transit). And there is the Reggie-Way, preferred by Reggie Gummer, encase the chip in a glued cardboard mailer thingee rather than bubble wrap. Seems to work okay.
