Without looking at my notes....there was a Carl’s Club in Emeryville in the 1950’s and. a Carl’s Lounge in Oakland about the same time.
The L mold Carl’s Chips...attributed to Santa Monica were most likely not from Santa Monica as Rice didn’t go into Southern California much. Too much competition.
There is no proof on the L mold chips...and Carl’s Lounge is only a rumored gambling spot...no evidence yet.

The Carl’s Club Chips I would think are from the 1970’s at earliest...so most likely could not of been used in the 1950’s... could be wrong. I have been wrong before. 😀

I would say that they are unknown...and might always be unknown. They could be a home set....or from Oregon or Washington for that mater.
