Re: Louisiana Club
In Response To: Louisiana Club ()

Z Louie came from San Francisco and got his start by leasing space in the Town Tavern
and installing a keno game. Later he opened the Louisiana Club in a building across the
street. It was said that Louie knew almost every politician in the country well, not just in
Nevada. He would hold parties in his club and everybody including the governor, senators,
sheriff, council members, etc would attend. He never invited black people nor would he
hire black dealers, only Chinese. Consequently, he was resented on the Westside. Later
he relented. After the place closed, my good friend Warren Stanley, constable of NLV, asked
Louie if he had any Louisiana Club chips. He replied in a high-pitched voice, They no good,
I throw away! Info and picture from the book "A Liberal Conscience".
