THE POD 2019
Even though, I did very well with my POD’s and other methods of selling off over half of my collection. I feel that the degree of interest in our hobby is continuing to wane. I fear that it will be up to a handful of the younger members & millenial’s, to keep our hobby on a steady course.
I have in the past pretty much stuck to what it was I was trying to do for the new year, and what I had done in the past year. This years statement is more or less a commentary on the way things in our hobby really are.
This past year I had started marketing heavily and selling off my collections. Albeit, I still am collecting; here is what my main interests are: Chips with Card Images, MT, CA, Las Vegas, Reno, small town NV, Canada, Wet chips, Florida, ND, SD, WA, OR & Personal Chips. This is pretty much in order of importance to yours truly.
The year of 2019 will be a year much change, and posturing for the POD. I have sold or absorbed into my inventory all the states that I originally planned to. If any one is interested in my FL, ND, WA or OR collections, send me a request for images.
I now have $1 face value POD’s. If any one is interested in buying chips at face value or less, please send me and email and I will send you my phone #. Let’s Talk!
I have found by publishing only one POD a week it is the easiest and most productive. When a POD is fairly light weight, I will publish sometimes two POD’s that week.
One of the reasons I made the comment that our hobby is on the wane is because, you cannot give “chips” away in many instances. The amount of CB readers are about ½ of what it was 5 years ago. There is not enough new collectors to buy the 30 chips for $9 deals, or the 70% off the TCR deal. I will continue to publish the POD. I do believe that it won’t be too many more years and I will have to stop though. I love to play with my chips, but age, and interest is working against me. I love this hobby and I hope we all can work towards bringing it to other yet, to be found hobbyists. Sincerely Reggie

CHIP TIPS FOR CHIP COLLECTORS
GUEST AUTHORS OF HARVEST STORIES
SEVERAL YEARS AGO, I STARTED HAVING A GUEST AUTHOR AND HIS/HER HARVEST STORY AS OFTEN AS I COULD.
AT THIS WRITING I ONLY HAVE APPROXIMATELY 40 + STORIES TO SHARE. I AM HOPING THAT A FEW MORE AUTHORS WILL STEP UP TO THE PLATE, AND THESE VERY PROLIFIC “CHIPPERS” WILL COME UP WITH A FEW MORE. I WILL RE RUN THESE STORIES THROUGH THE COMING YEAR. AND ADD STORIES AS THE POD ROLLS ALONG.
THESE STORIES ARE ALWAYS INFORMATIVE AND USUALLY HAVE A BIT OF TONGUE AND CHEEK HUMOUR.
LET’S SHARE WITH OTHERS DIFFERENT WAYS OF HARVESTING, THE TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS THAT WE HAVE FACED OUT THERE WHILE WE WERE HARVESTING.
THANKS FOR READING THIS LITTLE INFO-MERCIAL.

A HARVEST STORY BY A GUEST AUTHOR
DEUCES WILD CARD ROOM – AUBURN, CA
By JAMES ERIC FREEDNER
When the Towers Card Room opened in Grass Valley one July weekend a couple of years back - I drove up there and stopped off at Deuces Wild which is located on a frontage road off I-80 west of Auburn proper. The casino was closed. A stack of last month's "Card Player" magazines was dumped at the doorstep, and some junk mail sat in the mailbox. The parking lot in front of the casino is paved (part of a small shopping plaza) and the rear lot was gravel. I walked around the lots, looking for any dropped chips. Rarely does this result in a find, but I have found chips often enough to give it a try. But, nothing at all.
On the way back from Towers, I stopped by again, it was around 6 or 7 PM by then and I figured the casino would be "open for the night." But, no. It dawned on me that the place looked closed for good, which turned out to be the truth. Missed it by a couple of months, at most.
Deuces Wild no longer has a current license and I don't know what happened to the building. And where are the chips, you ask? I have no idea! I bought one, a couple of years ago, think it came up on eBay, and I have seen exactly one other such chip since then, in a dealer's album at some show (maybe the February Super Show). Somebody must be "sitting on" at least a thousand of them, but apparently very few got out of the casino while it was in operation; I'd estimate maybe a dozen or two. The truly odd thing is that Deuces Wild is such a "modern" casino, one would think the Sacramento area collectors would have gotten a bunch out.
Its closure was sudden. Rumor had it that the place couldn't compete with all the Indian casinos in the area, but there must have been more to that story.
If you manage to turn up a Deuces Wild from your ChipBoard request, you will truly be One Lucky Reggie. I will keep an eye out for that chip but, I don't really expect to see it again soon.

PERSONAL HARVESTING STORIES
DIAMOND JACKS SHREVEPORT, LA
By:RICHARD “REGGIE” GUMMER
NANCY AND I WERE ON A WEEK TRIP THAT TOOK US THROUGH MISSISSIPPI, LOUSIANA, TEXAS AND BACK THROUGH LOUISIANA AND UP TO ARKANSAS, WHEN WE STILL LIVED IN CLEVELAND, TENNESSE. WE DID A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF HARVESTING THAT TRIP, I GET TIRED JUST THINKING ABOUT IT. WE HAD DONE SOME VISITING OF RELATIVES IN HOUSTON, ATTENDED A HOUSTON CHIPPERS MEETING AND HAD A LITTLE BUSINESS IN DALLAS THAT WE TOOK CARE OF; AND WENT TO SHREVESPORT FOR MORE HARVESTING. WHEN WE GOT THERE I SAID LET’S HIT THE CASINOS SEE WHICH ONE WILL GIVE US THE BEST RATES FOR A ROOM AND STOP THERE FOR THE NIGHT.
WELL IT TURNED OUT THE HARVESTING WAS RELATIVELY EASY THERE IN SHREVESPORT, AND IT DID NOT TAKE LONG TO GET TO THE DIAMOND JACKS, WHICH HAD RECENTLY TAKEN OVER FROM THE ISLE OF CAPRI. THEIR ROOM RATES WERE UNBELIVEABLY LOW, SO; THAT IS THE ONE WE CHOSE TO SPEND THE NIGHT WITH. THEY WERE DOING SOME REMODLING AND SOME MODIFICATIONS TO TURN IT IN TO A “NEWER CASINO”.
I HAD NO PROBLEMS GETTING THE NEWER CHIPS FROM THERE, AND WE CHECKED IN TO THE ROOM AFTER GRABBING A BITE TO EAT AT THEIR SNACK BAR, UGH; THE ONLY PLACE OPEN THAT SERVED FOOD.
BUT, WHEN WE GOT UP TO OUR ROOM WE WERE AMAZED AT THE PARROTS PAINTED ON ALL OF THE WALLS OF THE ROOM (ISLE OF CAPRI WAS STILL THERE). WE DID NOT CARE WE WERE FRIED FROM TRAVELING AND HARVESTING. PLUS, WE WERE ONLY TWO DAYS AWAY FROM GETTING BACK HOME TO TENNESSEE. I DID NOT GET ENOUGH OF THE DIAMOND JACKS FROM SHREVEPORT. REGGIE
