Limelight $1 Yellow Chip Story
In Response To: Today’s finds... ()

Nice finds, Jay! (As always.) Hope you didn't pay a premium for the $1 Limelight yellow. A couple of years back, a whole rack (or more) appeared on eBay. Story was, seller's father, I think - well, some relative - had worked at the casino and when the hot-stamped chips were replaced by the current set, he was able to get them (purchase or gift). The hot-stamping on all of them was really worn. Stored for some years or played at home - you all know that story. Eventually the owner decided to sell, the price was something like $2 a chip or so-and-so per rack. I bought four chips, as I recall, one for my album and then tried to sell the others. Slooooowwww as frozen molasses, but I think I finally moved them all on eBay. The owner offering on eBay found it slow-going, too; his lot was repeated for several weeks. Short story: great if you need one and could get it at a low price.
