Here is a back and forth between a card

Collector and myself from a couple years back... thread starts at the bottom up

Yup

Started Collecting Playing cards after I played poker when i was in high school LOL..

I would not say that most card collectors are poker players. By the way Western, there are many card collectors who collect non casino or vegas decks for that matter.. There are many affordable and beautiful playing card decks that are affordable and magicians and cardists buy them in bulk.. Card collectors like me as well, as they are generally cheaper.

You can check out their playing cards, they are the "big 4" in custom cards

Also, this market is pretty packed, as there are literally hundreds if not thousands of people out there contract manufacturing their playing card designs with USPC or other card making companies.

Would you say that most of the collectors of the classic casino decks are also poker players? And... how did you get started collecting decks?

Hi Westen

I Just started collecting Vintage Casino Dice awhile ago, but have been collecting playing cards for about a decade. I think I've spent more than a hundred grand (USD) just in my card collecting the past decade! LOL! hahaha...

I am a 28 year old Singaporean who's living in Hong Kong now. I play quite bit of poker, and maybe in the near future, hopefully, will know enough about those chips to start collecting them.

Hmmm, i can promise you, even if a huge stash of playing cards ( those vintage ones) were discovered, it will not really crash the market. I for one, will absorb any supply you have at a small discount right away.. LOL.. I have multiples of the same vintage decks, cos i just love them so much, and i believe in the longterm they are good" investments".

To give you and example, the Red Golden Nugget deck of cards i bought from you is just one of the almost 20 Red decks that i have in my collection.. LOL.. I have been adding them steadily into my collection over the years at various price points..

Just to give u an idea about how heated the market has become. At the Start of the previous year (2015), I purchased 3 Decks of Red golden Nugget decks at an average cost of about $80USD per pack, Mint Condition. By the end of the 2016, it was about a $180 for a Mint deck of Golden Nugget Playing cards. Pretty Insane. Not stopping me from adding to my collection though.. HAHA

If you do have any questions on Vintage Vegas Decks, please do not hesitate to contact multiple sources, including me, for an opinion or info check.. More than happy to help.

Warm Regards
Maw

Thanks for the information. I ask because I collect antique/vintage poker chips.

We have an online collector's blog board. We have a general club website. We have published price guides but
as you know about the card market... prices can change quickly if hoards are found. So... If you don't mind, I would be interested in
knowing how you started collecting casino cards? How old are you? Why casino cards?

Our group is an older crew... most 60 or older. I am one of the younger members at 45. We are always trying to grow our membership
but we are a all volunteer organization and our efforts only go so far. Just like your cards, rare casino chips can go into the thousands.
So... how would one learn more about casino card collecting? Where do you go for information/buying selling trading?

I'm curious about how you guys communicate and enjoy your hobby.

Thanks again,
Westen

Hi

I just realized that i bought the golden nugget deck of cards from you..

There's generally no price guide for playing cards as the market changes really quick. The only way to really tell is to be actively watching the market, IE auctions, transactions on other card forums.

If you're talking about vintage vegas playing cards, I can give you a rough idea.

The rarest few would be Dunes (hotel and resort*) , Silver Slippers, Frontier Hotel, Jerry's Nugget, Golden Nugget, Carson City Nugget, Sahara, Sahara Tahoe, Riviera Hotel.

These cards are not the ones with the bee Diamond back, but are the vintage ones with tax stamps as their seals.

Condition matters 100% to any card buyer or collector. For example, i will pay up to twice or thrice the value for a perfect deck, as compare to one with broken cellphone/without cellphones and with tears in cellophane wrapper.

I can go on and on, but ya.. Those decks that i listed above go all the way up to hundreds, and even a thousand dollars a pack.. A perfect Dunes pack of cards will go for a grand easily.

Kind Regards
Maw

Hi there... I was wondering if you know where I can find a price guide for playing cards. I see them from time to time in garage sales but never know what to pick up. Any help would be appreciated .

Thanks, Westen
