Any info / guesses on why they're doing the redemption? Perhaps plans in the works for MGM to spend some money on the property, with the north-strip casinos beginning to see some new life?

Or maybe they are just looking to clear the books on unredeemed chips through the past 50 years. Potentially, it would free up some cash reserves to do other things with. I don't recall if they have had other redemptions through the years, with several ownership changes since opening day. Or they may be like Caesars, which reportedly honors all chips going back to 1966 opening.
