SOUTHERN NEVADA CASINO COLLECTIBLES CLUB
November 2018 - From SNCCC President, Jerry Vergatos
Greetings to all of our members, and to everyone else interested in the hobby! This is a preview of our November 13th Meeting and an update on current activities of the SNCCC.
SPEAKER
This Month’s speaker will be Patti Jack-Dorff, CMM/Director of Catering for The Orleans and Gold Coast Hotels and Casinos. As Director she is responsible for all catered events at both hotels. She oversees a staff of 5 office personnel and over 60 employees. Her topic for discussion is how she performs her day to day duties and her responsibilities. Patti is the Club's direct contact for coordinating our monthly meetings at the Gold Coast.
Award Presentation
A special award will be given to Mr. Mike Musicaro, Vice President of Operations for The Orleans and Gold Coast Hotels and Casino for his great contributions to the Club in the name of Boyd Gaming. He is a supporter and has generously offered us the meeting facilities at the Gold Coast year after year.
Meeting Room Accommodations Extended to December 2019
The Gold Coast Hotel and Casino has granted us another year of free rental space for our meetings. There will be some sporadic changes as far as room location through 2019, which will be announced before our scheduled meetings. THANK YOU!!! Mike Musicaro and the management of the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino.
SPEAKER REQUESTS
It is my wish to provide a diverse and interesting speaker at all our meetings. If anyone has any suggestions or contacts who could be a speaker at our meeting, please let me know. Jim Follis will be making a presentation in January demonstrating how the Chip Guide works and it’s many benefits. The demonstration will include a large format, touch-screen computer monitor, displaying ChipGuide live on the Internet, for an interactive experience of how to use ChipGuide and what happens when a ChipGuie Admin uploads images to ChipGuide.
Membership Addresses
Please make sure your email address is up to date so that we can communicate any last-minute news. There have been some last moment changes in our meeting room locations and it is imperative that we notify you as soon as possible. Contact Jaydon at jaydon9ogden@gmail.com to update your email.
Video Taping
Ron Gaudette will be videotaping our meeting again. If anyone does not want to be captured on video, please let any board member know so that we can accommodate you.
Membership Dues
Please stay current with your membership dues to Jaydon Ogden. He will be sending out renewal notices shortly. You can contact him at jaydon9ogden@gmail.com.
SNCCC Elections/2019
Nomination forms were sent out via e-mail and some blank ones were distributed at the last meeting for Mary Ann and Bruce Massey, our SNCCC Election Chairpersons, for any members of the SNCCC wishing to run for office. All Officer positions were up for nomination. President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Membership and 2 At-Large positions. Elections will be held in November and elected Officers will assume their Office on January 1, 2019.
Here is an opportunity to get involved with our Club and to help shape it for the future. We have grown substantially in the last year and with your involvement, we can get even better. Your VOTE is important concerning the future of the Club.
Please make sure your dues are current so that your vote will not be disqualified. Please contact Jaydon and make arrangements to get your membership renewed.
Club Fundraiser Auction
Our Club Auction is ending on the 31st of October. This is our biggest moneymaker of the year. Please let anyone you know that we are offering many great lots, here on TheChipBoard. Sheldon Smith will be assisting Dale Horyna in this year’s auction. Thank You Sheldon and Dale! Please contact Dale Horyna at dehoryna@gmail.com.
Roy Nelson, CCA Membership Officer
Roy has asked that any CCA members in our Club to please bring in any old Club magazines (Casino Collectibles News - CCN) for recycling to recruit potential new members. Showing them our magazine could greatly influence CCA recruiting goals. Please, no magazines over 2 years old.
Donations /G2E
I recently attended the G2E convention and harvested quite a few sample chips and plaques. I have donated them to the CCA for their annual raffle in June. Doug Smith, the Raffle Chairman is accepting any like items from our Club members. I can accept any and all donations and will gladly ship them to him in Houston at no charge to you.
Clarification SNCCC/CCA/MoGH
I would like at this time to clarify some confusion concerning the three organizations listed above. This newsletter is for the benefit of the SNCCC (Southern Nevada Casino Collectibles Club). We are a local club with no affiliations with the CCA - Casino Collectibles Association. Many of our local members (SNCCC) are also part of the CCA and at times it seems we are in step with the National Club. However, we have our own Constitution and Bylaws, and our agenda is very different from the National Club.
The MoGH (Museum of Gaming History) is an educational Project of the CCA. Any Member of the CCA is automatically a Member of the MoGH. To make things a little more complicated, I, along with Jim Follis, are also National Board members, as well as Board Members in the SNCCC and the MoGH. The SNCCC has donated money to the MoGH in the past and is instrumental in helping achieve its goals. If you have any questions, please feel free to bring them up at the next meeting.
Hope to see everyone at the meeting.
