It appears there were 3 (or more?) Honest John's casino locations in Las Vegas, though only 1 of them had chips (if correct). The other 2 were slots-only ... I think. But I'll admit to being a bit confused. They all had closed by the time I was collecting chips in person, so I have no first-hand knowledge of seeing an Honest John's when open.
Here's the 3 locations, including a small correction / addition to the Chip Guide:
#1 - Honest John's (LV Strip) at 2440 Las Vegas Blvd. South (x-street: Sahara). Open 1963-1974 per Chip Guide.
(Current location of the Bonanza Gift Shop, and other small casinos have been there too.)
This is the only one with chips / live gaming. Also the only listing in TCR.
#2 - Honest John's (downtown) at corner of 3rd & Ogden Streets. Dates: ??? NOT listed on the Chip Guide.
(This location eventually absorbed into the Lady Luck, I think. Though may have been across the street.
A slots-only operation?
(Note: a postcard from this location is mistakenly added to the Honest John's-Paradise page on the Chip Guide.)
See postcard pics, with downtown address on reverse, at the Honest John's Paradise Casino webpage:
#3 - Honest John's Paradise Casino, at 4813 Paradise Road. Dates: ??? Listed on Chip Guide.
(This location is just north of Tropicana Blvd., near entrance to Thomas & Mack Center. Currently, a dirt lot.
A slots-only operation?
Any "old timers" out there that can confirm or add info? Thanks.
