Re: grin Is it the broken cup and saucer from...

El Rancho Vegas that made you declare your love?? rofl

I forgot to tell the story of that half-cup and half-saucer!

My husband and I had seen a few things that we were told were found at the Sunrise Mountain dump (including the Sal Sagev cup that's pictured in the post). Finally someone told us how to find the dump, which was only used for about a year, in 1951 I think. We were warned that if we decided to go exploring, we needed to wear sturdy boots and be very careful....there were rusted out barrels in the dump, covered by debris so you couldn't see them. If we weren't careful, we could crash through a rusty barrel! Of course we explored, and we found the dump, we were on vacation and of course we didn't have boots...so we wore our tennis shoes! It took us awhile to find the dump, as we had to travel across the desert (thank goodness the car was a rental!). We hadn't explored for very long, and we were being very careful, when big clouds started rolling in. We didn't want to risk getting caught in a flash flood, so we abandoned our adventure before finding anything except the broken cup and saucer, and a piece of a rusty license plate that was dated 1951.

My husband won't let me display the broken china, but I love it as a souvenir of our treasure hunting adventure. grin
