Knowing full well the dangers of a hurricane ~~~

~~~ or tropical storm, having been through all of them here in Florida, since 1972, I can fully understand those who decided to stay put on the Carolina coast during Florence... and, I would have done the same thing.
My biggest thrill in a hurricane after the first few years of building my house was climbing up into the attic about every couple hours; not in fear of rising water, but to see how well my house would withstand the storm's winds and to compliment myself on the excellent job I did with the type of roof configuration I designed and built. It was a little noisy with flying tree branches and broken glass banging on my gable ends' sheathing and on the roof, and I was 100% convinced during and after each storm that I did an excellent job in constructing the house. 😀
My best wishes for anyone in this storm's path.
