My reply is in response to Seve's post. I have a story to tell and I had been debating to tell it the last few days and then Steve made his post. I have been emailing with Steve and he said to share it.
I will start my story by saying today was my last day of radiation treatments.
Some have wondered why I missed the convention this year.
I will try and keep this short. After several years of having a problem with my right breast and having tests that kept coming back negative I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer on April 13th. May 21st I had a mastectomy along with many lymph nodes being removed. After recovery I went for PT to regain my range of motion and then I started 33 radiation treatments. As I said today was my last one. I've since developed lymphedema and have limited use of my right arm which gets tired and a heavy feeling fast when I try to use it. I'll be going back to PT soon for that.
I'm sharing this story to let men know they can get breast cancer. While it is rare it is becoming more prevalent in men and I suggest all men go for check ups.
Many friends over the last few months via email, phone calls, texts, cards etc.have wished me well and I thank you all. It has meant a lot to me.
Here are two links I'm sharing.
