Hi Everyone, today I have the first of two 25c POD's. There are some quite interesting 2 bit chips in this grouping. I was planning on having a Labor Day sale of one of the remaining 6 states I still have for sale from my collection, however, we will be traveling north about that time. MANY OF YOU ARE AWARE THAT WHEN I DISPLAY MY CHIPS WITH THE “HANG A SOLD SIGN” ON IT DISPLAYS ARE ON A REVERSE AUCTION PRICING SYSTEM. ONCE IN A WHILE YOU WILL SEE THE WORD “LOCK” BESIDE THE PRICE. THIS SIMPLY MEANS THE PRICE IS NOT GOING ANY LOWER.
MY PAGES OF THE DAY ARE ON A REVERSE AUCTION AS WELL, BUT WHEN I GET DOWN TO FACE VALUE, THERE IS NOT MUCH WIGGLE ROOM. THE NICER CHIPS IN THE PAGES OF THE DAY ARE ON A REVERSE AUCTION, AND I TRY TO REMEMBER TO LOWER THEM EACH TIME THEY ARE SHOWN WHICH IS ABOUT ONCE EVERY 3-4 MONTHS.

Having been "tipped off" by another collector (Jim Colbert) that Barona Casino had put new lower-denomination chips on its tables (and had begun using the Year of the Dog $8 chips), I drove down there to see for myself, and of course, to buy a few of each denomination. Yes, new chips were in play. I stopped at a blackjack table to buy some 1's and 5's, which the dealer happily sold. In looking at the 5's, I spotted one very different looking - a dark purple inlay and "Welcome Home 2018 Expansion" on it. (Jim hadn't mentioned this, and it turned out he didn't know about it.) The Pit Boss, who had come over the supervise the transaction, said that this was also a new chip released for the opening of the new hotel wing, and that if I wanted to buy more, they were circulating at various tables.
Off to the "Dragon Alley" tables which is the Asian gaming section. Found another dealer who had a few Year of the Dog chips in his rack, threw down a $100 bill and asked to buy them, along with any $5 "Welcome Home" chips he might have. The man rose to the occasion, but took a few moments to compute 8's and 5's out of $100. He started by tossing out two $25 chips and began looking through his rack. While this was going on, I became aware of a bit of confusion and noise behind me. Turned around and was handed a Lucky Red Envelope by the lady leading the Puppy Patrol, or whatever the special Asian good luck troupe was called. Inside was a free $8 Year of the Dog chip! These are usually given out only to seated players, but the Puppy Patrol figured I qualified. (Another lady at the table also got an envelope.)
I said, "Thank you, Dog Lady!" At which the other Patrol members, shaking tambourines and drumsticks, all broke out in laughter.
In retrieving my other $8 and $5 chips, and the $25's, I noted that the $25 chips were also different from last year's in color and design. I left with pockets filled with nice new chips, but not before I tried my Dog Luck at a slot game. Won a $120 jackpot. Yep, the Red Envelope indeed contained a Lucky Dog Chip.

NANCY AND I WERE ON THE SECOND HALF OF OUR VACATION WHILE WE WERE STILL LIVING IN CALIFORNIA. THE FIRST HALF WAS MY FAMILY REUNION IN THE CLEARWATER MOUNTAIN AREA OF IDAHO. WHEN WE LEFT THERE WE STARTED OUT BY HEADING OVER THE LOLO PASS INTO MONTANA. THE PASS REST STOP WAS A NICE PLACE TO STOP SO WE DID.
AFTER WE GOT DOWN OFF THE MOUNTAIN TOP, WE CAME IN TO TOWN THAT HAD A MAJOR JUNCTION AND THE TWO ROADS TURNED INTO A 4 LANE ROAD INTO MISSOULA. NANCY SPOTTED A SMALL SIGN THAT SAID “LIVE POKER”. WE NEED ANOTHER BREAK SO WE BOTH GOT OUT, THE PLACE WAS CALLED BLACK JACK’S CASINO AND IT HAD SLOTS, NOT MANY BUT ENOUGH TO KEEP NANCY BUSY A FEW MINUTES.
THERE WAS TWO DEALERS SITTING AT THE TABLE TALKING, AND I ASKED CASUALLY IF I COULD SEE THEIR CHIPS THAT USE IN THE GAME. THEY SAID SURE, AND THE CHIPS WERE KIND OF COOL EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE PAPER LABLES I WANTED THEM. LITTLE DID I KNOW WHAT WAS IN STORE FOR ME, THEY WERE SMARTER THAN THE AVERAGE CARDROOM OWNERS. THEY SAID THESE 50c & $1 CHIPS COST US 80/90c EACH AND I WOULD HAVE TO CHARGE YOU $1.50 EACH FOR THEM. I SAID WHAAAAAT? THE SAID, THE $5’s YOU CAN HAVE THEM FOR FACE VALUE. I WAS HAPPY TO PAY THEM WHAT THEY WANTED, AND I GRABBED NANCY WE WERE OUT THE DOOR AND DOWN THE ROAD. NO, I DID NOT GET ENOUGH OF THE SMALL DENOMS …REGGIE

MANY YEARS AGO I STARTED MY POSTING, BY POSTING “A SET OF THE DAY” I THINK I HAD ABOUT 300-400 SETS ALL TOGETHER. THAT WAS A LOT OF FUN BACK THEN.
AND NOW, I WILL START HAVING A REGULAR SET OF THE DAY WITH MY OTHER FEATURES WHEN I DISPLAY A “PAGE OF THE DAY”.
