Talk about a photoshop job .... Check out the photo
Being a resident in Springfield, and having an MGM card, I just an e-mail about
the MGM Opening. Originally they said the hotel would be 25 floors, then cut them
to six, the picture shows on 5 floors ??
The casino is on Main Street in the South end section. The road is 1 lane each
way - not 3 they way they position the cars and trolly in the photo, and we certainly
DO NOT have trolly cars and there is no outside seating, at least not now - nobody
in that area has outside seating, sidewalk is regular width, not enough for outside
table seating .... If you look at the cars license plates, they are the long narrow ones
on the cars, those are European plates
Looks like MGM wants to give the impression that is what the area looks like. A
few years ago, a tornado went thru that part of downtown, did alot of damage
forcing alot of business to re-locate. There is a fairly decent pizza shop next door,
but other than that, there is NO decent dine in resturants in the area. Used to be an
old 4 - 5 generation Italian neighborhood with several nice Italian resturants, but
they are now all gone, and now it is mostly Spanish and Russian with some Vietnamese
that took over the area - alot of welfare.
Sorry for the negative review of the new MGM, but I have lived here for 71 years
now, and I have watched the changes in the downtown area. Again, it is an area
that we will not go into at night, and MGM will never convince us it is safe to do so
now that they are there. Just a heads up for those who might come to the casino
but have never been to the area the casino is in .....
Again, just my 2 cents as a life long Springfield resident
