Two factoids:
1) Barbara Walters father, Lou Walters, was the entertainment manager in the Tropicana's early years.
2) When Vincent Gigante was a young thug in 1957 he was sent by Vito Genovese to murder Frank Costello, head of the main NYC mafia family. Although shot in the head, Costello wasn't seriously injured. The police found a note in Costello's pocket with the daily receipts from the Tropicana and this began the feds interest in the mob's involvement in Las Vegas.
Extra fact: There were no resort fees in those days.
