I was around during some of these years. Some of these old places seemed so interesting.
I lived in Southern Cal for a few years as a kid. I do remember going to Redondo Beach, Venice Beach, Long Beach , Hermosa, and Manhattan Beach as a kid. (1970’s) Not a care in the world

I believe they torn down all the Amusement stuff in Long Beach...early 80’s??
On a drive down to Universal Studios a few years ago, we went to some of the Beaches. Santa Monica seemed like they kept it pretty clean( compared to some other areas) but went to Venice Beach .....very disappointed. What was a treasure as a kid was overgrown with homeless, trash and graffiti.

I do need to take another trip to So Cal someday soon. I like road trips...eating at a cafe on the beach at sunset. You can do that in Nor Cal...but it just seems better down south.
