A Message from the SNCCC President...

YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED TO ATTEND OUR MONTHLY MEETINGS!!!

At our meetings, we have trading and selling of casino memorabilia which starts at 6 PM and resumes following the meeting. You are invited to both the meeting and trading sessions.

At our meeting, the Early Bird Auction begins at 6:45 pm followed by our Guest Speaker and then the Club meeting. You can see the list of items and scans in this message. In the event you are not able to make it in person, you are welcome to email me with your highest bid. Just include your CCA or SNCCC membership number and which lot you want to bid on. Payment for winning bids is due at the end of the auction. If you are an absentee winner, you will receive an invoice. You may bring any items for future auctions with you. Any form of casino memorabilia is welcome. The Club takes a 20% seller’s fee unless you opt to donate all proceeds to the Club.

SPEAKER – Geoff Schumacher

Geoff Schumacher is the Senior Director of Content for the Mob Museum, responsible for exhibits, artifacts and public programs. He earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Nevada, Reno, and his master’s degree in history from Arizona State University. He started his 25-year career in journalism at the Las Vegas Sun, where he was a reporter, editorial writer and city editor. He was the editor of Las Vegas CityLife and founded and edited the Las Vegas Mercury. He served as director of community publications for the Las Vegas Review-Journal and also wrote a weekly public affairs column for the Review-Journal. He culminated his newspaper career by serving as publisher of the Ames (Iowa) Tribune. Mr. Schumacher is the author of two books; Sun, Sin & Suburbia: A History of Modern Las Vegas and Howard Hughes: Power, Paranoia & Palace Intrigue. He served as editor of Nevada: 150 Years in the Silver State, the official book commemorating the state’s sesquicentennial, and several editions of the Las Vegas Writes anthology series.

There will be a 50/50 raffle for cash and/or prizes which is quite fun! This month’s auction to include a set of 6 chips from the just opened Hard Rock and Ocean casinos in Atlantic City. These were donated by Jerry Vergatos with 100% of the proceeds going to the SNCCC. Starting bid on this item only will be $17.00. Proxy bids are welcome. (Image is attached.)

If you are not yet a member or your membership has lapsed, I invite you to join the SNCCC. An annual membership is only $12.00 payable at the door. You are, of course, welcome as a guest to see what we’re all about and you can bring your friends as well!!!!!!!!!!

Our meetings are short, which gives you lots of time to socialize and gain knowledge about whatever interests you with casino memorabilia.

Minutes of the
SOUTHERN NEVADA CASINO COLLECTIBLES CLUB
Regular Monthly Meeting
Tuesday, June 12, 2018
Salon C, The Orleans Hotel and Casino

In a last minute notification, the Monthly Meeting location was changed to The Orleans Hotel and Casino. Prior to the Business Meeting of the SNCCC, we conducted our regular auction, beginning at 6:45 pm, which ran for 20 minutes. Following the auction, our Guest Speaker, Sam Wagmeister spoke of his awareness of entertainment venues in Las Vegas.

The meeting was called to order by President Jerry Vergatos at 7:50 p.m. with 30 members and guests in attendance. Next month’s meeting (July 10) will be held in the Salon A at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino, as will all meetings through December of 2018.

The Club Secretary (Jim Follis) read the minutes of the last meeting held on May 8, 2018. The minutes were unanimously approved without objection.

Treasurer, Jim Diesinger was absent and President Vergatos reported that the Club’s Financial Balance as: $7,558.67.

Membership Chairperson, Jaydon Ogden, presented that Membership was 118, with Ron Gaudette signing up as a Life Member.

OLD BUSINESS:

Dale Horyna asked for “J” or better chips for the Club’s Online Fundraiser Auction.

Tree Shields will manage the SNCCC half Table at the CCA Convention.

Steve Palumbo spoke about final Convention preparations.

NEW BUSINESS:

Ron Gaudette announced particulars of a ConCam and tribute to Brian “Splashman” Cashman at Convention.

Carey Burke asked about MoGH Upgrade costs ($35 annually vs. $250 Life).

Rich Klabacha suggested that SNCCC Membership applications be at the SNCCC half Table.

Jim Follis requested the loan of Michael Gaughan memorabilia.

Rich Klabacha reminded everyone of the Doug Saito, Chip Chat Auction.

Rich Klabacha advised of a major upgrade at Railroad Pass Casino.

Jaydon Ogden offered a contest.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:16 pm.

We then conducted the Raffle
