The small plaques are made of mother of pearl and supplied by a French company, Caro & Fils. This
is an unused 100 Fr piece held by the maker, CARO & Fils, as a reference in case there were future orders. Name of club was Cercle Artistique et Littéraire, and location was 7 Rue Volney in Paris. After many years of play, used pieces were returned for re-engraving by the maker. Club was opened in 1874.
This is an unused piece, serial number 724, engraved and filled in blue. Size is about 2 1/4" x 2 3/8" and is undamaged. Thickness is about 1/8".
Yours for $25, delivered in USA.
I also have several of the plaques that were returned to the maker for re-engraving. All are readable but do have some edge wear. Price of these is $12 each, delivered in USA.
These plaques are shown in The Chip Guide in other shapes and denominations. The club closed many years ago.
