I talked to Butch about this a couple of days ago since I thought the stacked logo was Sac and the circular logo was probably San Diego. He said that was incorrect because he had the large crown mold nickel with circular logo BEFORE San Diego Opened. My guess is that maybe after the initial run of chips they decided to go with a circular logo so they could have the denomination visible on both sides. It was right about the time they began phasing out large crown in favor of the small crowns so the initial 2nd wave of additional chips were on Lg Crown, but then switched to small crown. Least that's my guess.
Since the Sac club closed in 71 and the San Diego club opened in 72 perhaps it was the same owner or the new club owner bought all the chips from the Sac club? Could explain why you don't see much of the San Diego chips in other denoms because maybe they were using the Sac chips. Anyway, this is why CA chips are so great. Every club has a mystery. lol
NICE CHIP JAY!

PS - The mystery I really want to know is if the 2 non denoms from Sac with spots are moons....I LOVE MOONS!
