MINUTES OF THE SOUTHERN NEVADA CASINO COLLECTIBLES CLUB
Regular Monthly Meeting
Tuesday, April 10, 2018
Salon J, Gold Coast Hotel and Casino

Prior to the Business Meeting of the SNCCC, we conducted our regular auction, beginning at 6:45 pm, which ran for 20 minutes. Following the auction, our Guest Speaker, Mr. Lonnie Hammargren, presented some of his recollections of being a neurosurgeon to the sports world and eclectic collector of stuff. This was followed by a brief break and a reconciliation of the auction.

The meeting was called to order by President Jerry Vergatos at 7:45 p.m. with 37 members and guests in attendance. Next month’s meeting (May 8th) will be held in the Salon A at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino, as will all meetings through December of 2018.
The Club Secretary (Jim Follis) read the minutes of the last meeting held on March 13, 2018. The minutes were unanimously approved without objection.

Treasurer, Jim Diesinger, reported that the Club’s Financial Balance is: $6995.89.

Membership Chairperson, Jaydon Ogden, presented that Membership was 117.

OLD BUSINESS:

Jerry Vergatos updated everyone on the status of the SNCCC Scholarship to UNLV, that the effort is canceled due to a lack of interest on the part of UNLV.

Steve Palumbo updated everyone on Convention activities.

NEW BUSINESS:

It was announced that Club member Sandy Herman broke both of her elbows, but is recovering.
Jerry Vergatos present former Membership Officer, Rich Klabacha with an SNCCC shirt, a plaque of Thanks and an Honorary Life Membership (#4).

Jerry Vergatos, in the name of Ron Gaudette, proposed a membership dues increase to $15 annually and $150, one-time payment for Life Membership. The increase was voted down and the Life Member cost is currently at $150.
Rich Klabacha suggested moving our June meeting forward to coincide with the CCA Convention. It will be discussed in detail at the next meeting.

Howdy Herz ‘Chip Dig” event in Reno was announced.

It was suggested that the SNCCC should buy a “Congrats CCA” ad in the CCA Convention Program. It was voted to do a full page ad.
Jerry asked if any CCA Dealers would help the SNCCC by displaying membership flyers and signing up prospects.

Jim Follis, as a MoGH Officer, thanked the SNCCC for donations that provided a display case at the Nevada State Museum Exhibit.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 pm.

We then conducted the Raffle

Minutes respectfully submitted by Jim Follis

NEWSLETTER OF THE SOUTHERN NEVADA CASINO COLLECTIBLES CLUB
May, 2018

Greetings to all our members!

I hope everyone is enjoying the great weather.

CONVENTION TABLE
The Board of Directors has approved the purchase of a ½ table at the upcoming CCA convention. Tree Shields has graciously offered to work the table for the duration of the convention. Rich Burgel has also offered to provide some giveaways for prospective members. Thank you both for your great offer and show of support. Anyone wishing to volunteer to help tree is certainly welcome.

SPEAKER
This month’s speaker will be THE DUKE OF FREMONT STREET. He has spoken before to us and as usual, offers a great insight into the past of Las Vegas. He is an avid collector, a trader of vintage US coin & currency, and a true treasure hunter and adventurer! His presentation will be very interesting and entertaining to say the least.

DR. LONNIE HAMMAGREN
Our previous speaker was very interesting. I don’t think I have ever heard one of our speakers sing to us. Aside from that, he came across as quite a character. His presentation certainly added a different dimension to our speaker repertoire.

LIFE MEMBERSHIP
A discussion was brought up concerning increasing our annual dues and life membership dues. The consensus was that annual dues were adequate at this time. The Life Membership level was already in place at $150. I would encourage all to consider this level of membership as it further solidifies your commitment to the club.

UNLV
Unfortunately, this approved donation must be canceled. The bureaucracy at the school makes this very difficult to fund based on the minor stipulations that had been set forth. If anyone wishes to reinstate the request, they may make another motion at the meeting. You may contact me for further details.

FACEBOOK
Please post any events or comments relating to our club. Your participation is needed to help market our club and its members.

EARLY BIRD AUCTION
Last month was our first early bird auction. I believe it was a great success. Anyone wishing to sell their chips is welcome to submit them to Dale Hoyna. The club commission is a minimum of 20%.

TREASURER’S DETAILED REPORT
Jim Diezinger will be submitting his quarterly report on our financial position. A copy of that report will be in the next newsletter for your comments.

It is an honor being your President.
