The Club's Museum of Gaming History (MoGH) has made arrangements to expand the Exhibit at the Nevada State Museum (NSM), Springs Preserve, Las Vegas, NV.
As provided for in the NSM/MoGH Agreement, we will be adding 2 additional display cases to the 3 already being used at the NSM. While we were planning (and continue to plan) to present an Exhibit focused on the 5 casinos from the original, 1960 production of "Ocean's 11", we need more time to acquire material to present a full display case of such items. In the meantime, we have made arrangements with several, past Exhibitors at the Club's annual People's Choice Award participants to recreate their past Exhibits and put them on display at the NSM.
Accordingly, this coming Wednesday, myself, Steve Palumbo and my son, Casey, will be installing Steve's Award-winning, People's Choice Award Exhibit from 2017, entitled: "Atomic Nevada". Additionally, we will be installing a selection of collectibles dealing with WIN CARDS, and also, examples of various chip destruction methods, i.e., burial, shredding, cancellation (notching and drilling).
The following week, Casey and I, along with Mike Quinlivan, will be removing the contents of one of the current display cases (showing Nevada-only matches, ashtrays, and playing cards) and replacing them with Mike's past People's Choice Award Exhibit entitled: "Revisiting the FLAMINGO Capri... Again".
To date, representatives of the NSM have advised us that the current Exhibit has attracted a lot of attention, primarily as reminders of past remembrances. Many patrons have been observed to make comments along the lines of, "Wow, I remember that place" and "I used to have some of these". The MoGH is pleased that our Exhibits evoke such emotions as it confirms patron engagement with our Exhibits.
Isn't that what it's about?!
The MoGH... Always moving forward!
