.......Museum. I have had the "Birl's Restaurant and Pier" sign stored away in a shed for many, many years and I finally decided to give it a Place of Honor in the Birl Museum. The sign dates back to 1948 (70 years ago) when my Father built a Restaurant and Dance Hall on pilings over the Indian River here in Oak Orchard, Delaware. The sign measures 45" wide and 22" high and it fit perfectly on a shelf over my main display table in the Museum.
The Restaurant was only open for a couple of Summers but the Pier is still in use although we have re-built it 3 or 4 times over the years after it was damaged by various storms. The sign originally was equipped with Neon lighting. I bet it looked really neat when it was lite up !!
The Delaware Lottery display sign is a neat item I picked up recently and I got it because of the Playing Card design.
Something Old, something New - I like the new item but I really "Love" the old Birl sign !!
Take care,
