7 Weeks to go!

Today's *Thursday's Millions* will focus on a couple of my tickets as well as a selection of matchcovers from my Million Dollar Display Collection.

Casino ‘Fun Books’ used to be very popular. These were coupon booklets distributed in Las Vegas. They would be for everything from cheap rooms to 99 cent steak and eggs breakfast, to a free roll of nickels.

Here are couple of tickets good to have your photo taken with the Million Dollar Display that were issued during the ‘heyday’ of Las Vegas funbooks..the 1960's and 1970's..

Anyone who was in the Horseshoe in its glory days, can probably remember the smell of smoke, whether cigar or cigarette, that seemed to always permeate throughout the casino.

I have a dozen different MDD matchcovers..here are some of the different ones, with a couple variations..

Some larger ones..

Some smaller ones..

I have to admit I 'done a bad thing’. When I obtained most of my matchbooks they were full of matches. Not wanting my casino collection (or vintage baseball card collection, which is housed in the same area) to reek of sulfur, I removed all the matchsticks and disposed of them.

I apologize if that offends any matchbook collector reading this..but..get over it!

The next two *Thursday’s Millions* will highlight some of the dozens of different photographs I have of the Million Dollar Display, and photographs of items pertaining to it.
