Here's the plaque frame along with my 600 chip display case (UV protected and not part of my chip collection) and an ad from the Hollywood Reporter announcing the opening of the Flamingo. The story as I understand it was that Billy Wilkerson, owner of the Hollywood Reporter, started building the Flamingo and ran out of money. Along comes Ben Siegel and Wilkerson is out. That the Hollywood Reporter would advertise the Flamingo's opening seems to suggest that Billy and Ben were on good terms. I've also wondered about Wilkerson's plans. Was it called the Flamingo? Did it have the same high end architecture and non-dude ranch atmosphere?
