If you've not heard yet, our very own researcher and author on Prohibition Era Toledo Ohio Illegals, will be a featured speaker at the Mob Museum during the Club's Convention and Show this June.
Terry's subject matter blends in perfectly with the recently opened, basement expansion at the Mob Museum, The Speakeasy. This new area includes a working still, with a bar, and several period items, including a working, circa 1925 radio and speaker, as loaned from the collection of Club member, Mike Quinlivan.
AND NOW.... the rest of the story...
The MoGH Board is presently considering the feasibility of creating a "MoGH Speakers Bureau" wherein the MoGH will seek a Chairperson/Director to be on the lookout for and maintain a listing of talent, from within the Club (like Terry) to be Subject Matter Expert Guest Speakers. This MoGH resource can then be used to provide speakers to educational organizations and public/community activities.
The MoGH would look for potential engagements, as well as promote the availability of these speakers. In this instance, Terry Shaffer was first asked by the MoGH of he would be interested in re-doing his past Convention Seminar at the Mob Museum, and with his positive reply, through Mike Quinlivan, Terry's bio and contact info was provided to the Mob Museum.
Accordingly, the MoGH is very pleased that this test of a concept has worked so well. Terry has a Guest Speaker's gig at the Mob Museum, and a book signing!!!
So the jury is still out as to making the MoGH Speakers Bureau a reality, but we surely express our congratulations to Terry and our thanks to Mike for bringing this together!
The MoGH... always moving forward!
