I've never seen a laptop keyboard get better after the circuits under the keys have been affected by a spill. The only way I know of to prevent permanent damage is to turn the laptop upside down immediately after the spill occurs. If the liquid seeps into the circuits under the keys, the damage is permanent....been there, done that!
