Opinions wanted, Chipco bleeding?

When I first looked at this chip's pink inlay my thought was that the color from a red Chipco chip had bled onto the white inlay and caused it to turn pink. There is still some white showing. I then noticed that there is no red bleeding on the rim. My feeling now is that the inlay was manufactured as it shows in the scans below. Two thoughts as to why I don't believe that bleeding from a red Chipco chip has caused this.

The inlay is slightly recessed from the rim so how could a red Chipco chip make contact with the inlay and not the rim?
The rim, made of clay, is more porous than the inlay but there is no evidence of bleeding. You can see some red on the rim on one side but this sometimes happens when a red clay chip touches a white chip or white insert.

Any opinion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.
