TR King Inlay Process

I really enjoy the California Card Room chips but have noticed something weird about some of the Gardena Area chips

Most of the Gardena Area Inlays I pick up all seem to have been made around same time and with the same type of inlay attachment process. There is no crosshatching per say and on many you can feel the inlay edge. This appears on mostly the solid color scrowns like purple, white, red and blue.

On any small crowns that do have spots (later issues?)there is the normal "sealed in" look. These newer sealed in inlays are what you find on the Rainbow Clubs and New Building Monterey Clubs.

Did TRK use a cheaper production on these runs since they were just fracstionals mostly? Or were these the first versions of inlays on scrowns before they perfected the process? Thanks for any insight.
