Good Tuesday to Everyone, today I have a nice group of 50c Chips. This is a wide open area for new collectors. There is only a handful of collectors that collect only and specifically 50c chips. Many collect everything in their states; which includes 50c chips, many collect only Nevada chips, which includes 50c chips, this is just a few of the examples of collectors that collect 50c chips. Small Casino. Friendly people. On the way down US 95 is Lake Havasu CA, an 18 mile drive from the highway. Sign says not to annoy the wild burros on the road. I didn't see any, they must have had the day off.
The casino is not much to see. Not at all flashy or casino looking. It's on 3 levels with lots of stairs. For me on my Riding Lawnmower (Mobility Scooter) I had to go outside and up the side of the place to another set of doors for each level. They did however try to make things more accessible as they have a lift for wheelchairs. Very personable security guard saw me scooting around and was quite happy to help me get on the lift and she operated it from the floor 5 feet above me. It goes up the 5 feet to the next level (restaurant, players club) and all of a sudden as I motor forward, the lift begins to very slowly sink back down. I reverse the scooter to keep from being flipped over, half on half off the lift as it descends back to the main slot floor, waving good-bye to the security guard during the decent. She's calling for help, and several managers gathered by the time it reached the bottom. They decided to mark the lift out of order, and showed me the outside path.
Made my way to the top level with the 4 table games, 2 dealers standing at empty tables. A old man pit boss slouched in a chair nearby. Friendly dealer, happy to have something to do. Lost my one BJ hand... Asked the dealer if he'd give me two blue 50 cent chips as I tossed 2 $1 chips his way. "A dollar for the chips, and a toke for you." Dealer looked to the old man, who nodded OK, and I got my 50 centers.
That level with the table games has large windows overlooking the river. Sit at the bar or get a drink ( in my case, a glass of water) and sit right at the windows, slow down and watch the water. It's a Road Trip, not a commute to San Diego...
Slot club sign up gets you discounts for dining, but the best is a free ride on the ferry across the River to the Arizona Side. I'd say most of the patrons arrive that way from AZ, not the California US 95 route.
It's a joint, but a friendly place. I'd go back again.

SANTA YSABEL CASINO IS A VERY BEAUTIFUL LODGE TYPE CASINO NEAR HENSHAW LAKE NORTH EAST OF SAN DIEGO. IT IS LOCATED IN A BEAUTIFUL VALLEY ON A HILL WITH A BEAUTIFUL OVERLOOK. IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT THIS CASINO WAS DOOMED FROM THE BEGINNING. IT WAS WITH IN A FEW HOURS OF WHERE I LIVED IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.
THE DAY IT OPENED JIM NOLL AND I TOOK A LITTLE DRIVE UP TO IT. WE COULDN’T FIND IT AT FIRST WE KNEW WHERE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE, BUT THEY HAD NOT COMPLETED THE ROAD FROM HIGHWAY 79 UP TO THE CASINO.
WHEN WE FINALLY GOT THERE; WE GOT ALL THE FREEBIES AND CHIPS THAT WE WANTED WITHOUT ANY TROUBLE. THE PLACE WAS GORGEOUS, A LITTLE SMALL BUT SAN DIEGO COUNTY ALREADY HAD ABOUT 8 OR 9 INDIAN CASINOS.
AS I SAID IT WAS DOOMED, THE CATTLE RANCHERS IN THE AREA WERE NOT ENOUGH TO KEEP IT BUSY. SO HAVING PROBLEMS WITH STATE HIGHWAY (OWING THEM A LOT OF MONEY) COMMISSION, EVENTUALLY LED TO THEIR DEMISE. THEY HAD A POKER ROOM THAT WAS OPENED A FEW MONTHS AFTER THE GRAND OPENING. IT CLOSED DOWN THEY COULD NOT ATTRACT PEOPLE UP TO THEIR HIDDEN LOCATION. AND THE WHOLE CASINO CLOSED DOWN IN 2014. I HAD LOADED UP WITH THEIR CHIPS MY LAST TRIP THERE AROUND 2010, I DO NOT THINK I GOT ENOUGH CHIPS KNOWING THAT THEY ARE CLOSED PERMANENTLY.
