I had a similar problem with my Internet Service Provider (Network Solutions). I finally started using their WebMail facility for sending email only. They then started providing a separate method for sending my email (using webmail) and I began using that. My Nephew Erik set up a family facility using the "name Lueders.us" for all family members and they now have email addresses something like member.Lueders.us. The high-level domain name .us is available for anyone or any entity who resides or is located in USA. This would replace the .com domain name that most other users have adopted. Any ISP can do this for you if you desire to have member.Black.us as a style of email address.
This has worked out well and is relatively inexpensive. I'd suggest you contact Network Solutions if you should want to start a family-named email name for others in your family. They also give you lots of free storage space in case you want a place to put your pictures or other data related to the family or your chip hobby.
By the way, are you the "Mysterious Archie Black" who lurks around the WWW?
