Being a 2x cancer survivor they are doing wonderful things. I have a friend who had a bone cancer in her hip. She is 20 yrs out and just had her hip replaced recently, they only last so long. She had to stop working and go on disability after the cancer, but has lead a pretty normal life.
As you go through it a couple suggestions, get a support system in plan for both you and your major care taker. You both are going to have issues but not the same. I would go to Gilda's House, I don't think they are around anymore, but the social worker at the hospital might be able to help.
Contact which every group is for your cancer to see what services they offer, mine was lymphoma.
Make sure you get an advocate at your health insurance to smooth out issues about getting what you need.
Best wishes for a successful and speedy recovery.
