The company that ran the French Roulette (FR) tables at MGM was Holland Casino, indeed from the Netherlands. I was VP Gaming at Holland Casino at the time and later became VP International.
We were asked by (my good friend) Larry Woolf if we could assist in bringing the FR to MGM because they wanted more or less every casino game that existed on the floor of this Grand Casino.
At Holland Casino I was responsible for this project in LV and a.o. assisted in the designs of all plaques and jetons. They were made in Europe by Bourgogne & Grasset in Beaune, France. Now owned by GPI. There were also special $100,000 and $50,000 plaques made for the high rollers.
The promise we made to Larry was, give us the budget and than let us get on with it. We'll make sure that all the equipment, installation and crew are ready for the Grand Opening, so you don't have to worry about that part of this huge project. And of course we did.
Every FR croupier at Holland Casino wanted to work in LV at MGM. We ended up with four teams coming to LV for 3 months each.
Ask any of the croupiers who have been there and they will say it was the best experience ever. Though I have done many casino projects in different parts of the world later on as VP International, this one was special being in LV.
I could go on for ever on FR being the queen of the casino games. Fantastic game to deal but also play.
Any other questions I'll be happy to answer.
The special jeton by Hundertwasser which was mentioned was especially designed for Casinos Austria. Each chip is different and unique. Wonderful jeton for collectors.
As some of you know I specialize in Grand Opening chips and MGM Grand is of course a special one in my collection.
