SOLD CHIPS:
EVERY NOW AND THEN I HAVE A DIFFERENT PRICE ASSIGNED TO THE SAME CHIP IN A DIFFERENT FORMAT. PLEASE KNOW THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL REASONS THAT CAN CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN. WHILE TRYING TO EXPLAIN THIS, I WILL TRY NOT TO CONFUSE YOU.
THE FIRST AND FORMOST REASON THIS OCCURS IS BECAUSE OF THE LARGE INVENTORY I AM TRYING TO MANAGE. RIGHT NOW I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 4500 CHIPS IN MY (SELLING/TRADING) INVENTORY.
THE SECOND REASON THAT TWO PRICES FOR THE SAME CHIP CAN TAKE PLACE IS THAT I HAVE THEM DISPLAYED ON MY “PAGE OF THE DAY” AND ALSO ON MY HANG A SOLD SIGN FEATURES. TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH ALL THIS IS MORE THAN A FULL TIME JOB…IT IS A LABOR OF LOVE FOR SURE…LOL
ANOTHER REASON IS THAT ON THE PAGE OF THE DAY THE PRICE IS CONSTANTLY BEING LOWERED. THE SAME GOES FOR MY INDIVIDUAL CHIP DISPLAYS KNOWN AS “HANG A SOLD SIGN” THEY ARE ON A REVERSE AUCTION.
ONE MORE REASON DIFFERENT PRICING OCCURS IS WHEN I DISPLAY THE “PICK SIX” AND THE “VERY VERY CHEAP CHIPS” THE PRICES ARE ALWAYS LOWERED; BEYOND FACE VALUE IN SOME CASES.
SOME OF YOU MIGHT BE AWARE THAT I KEEP MY SELLING – TRADING CHIPS ON AN EXCEL SHEET ON MY COMPUTER. THIS IS ANOTHER REASON THAT PRICING INCONSISTENCY CAN OCCUR. THE FACT THAT I HAVE AN EXCEL INVENTORY WITH APPROXIMATELY 6000 ITEMS DESCRIBED AND PRICED (BUT NOT NECESSARILY IN STOCK), IS TRUE. THE FACT THAT IT IS 100% ACCURATE, IS NOT.
HERE IS ANOTHER WAY PRICING INCONSISTENCIES OCCUR, EXAMPLE
A SUNANCE $1 BILLINGS, MT CHIP IS SOLD AT $6 THEN AN OPPORTUNITY TO BUY ANOTHER PRESENTS ITSELF AND I BUY IT. INSTEAD OF STARTING AT THE LOW PRICE I RECENTLY SOLD ONE, I START AT A MY ORIGINAL SELLING PRICE OF $10 AND WORK MY WAY DOWN. THIS HAPPENS QUITE FREQUENTLY, THE BUYING AND SELLING PRICES DIFFER OFTEN.
I HOPE I DID NOT CONFUSE YOU IN ANY WAY. THIS IS MEANT TO BE MORE OF AN APOLOGY FOR THE INCONSISTENCIES THAT YOU MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE NOTICED IN MY PRICING. THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS…REGGIE
PS: SOME CHIPS I PAID TOO MUCH FOR. FOR THIS REASON THE PRICE BECOMES FROZEN SOME WHERE ON THE WAY DOWN IN MY REVERSE AUCTION PRICES…REG

Hi, Reggie,
Here is another chipping story, all true of course!
I had heard that it was difficult to buy a chip from the San Rafael Club in San Rafael; it was a small cardroom, limited hours, and management did not favor selling to collectors. Still, toward the end of one of my chip trips to the Petaluma area several years ago, I decided to give it a try. I had gotten the club address before starting my trip, which is fortunate because the 881 Club is not at number 881 on any street any more. My internet search led me to a brief history of the club, started by Pete Pellolio years ago.
Upon entering the building, I paused in the foyer between the bar and the cardroom to look at a portrait on the wall. Unexpectedly, a man came to the cardroom doorway and asked, "May I help you?"
"Is this Pete?" I said somewhat absent-mindedly, pointing to the portrait. "Yes," he replied, "Did you know Pete?"
"No," I replied, "but I heard he had started the club years ago, and kept the business going for many years, and was respected in the community."
"Want to play some cards?" the man asked.
"Actually, no; I was wondering if I could just buy a few chips, I collect them."
The man gave a non-committal look and then smiled. "We have a strict policy, no sales to collectors. But since you spoke so highly of my father, I can sell you a few."
My visit ended with a hearty handshake and a smile from the new owner, and his invitation to "come back any time." And a few of the elusive Club San Rafael chips in my pocket.
Sometimes, it pays to admire the artwork.
Don't have time to drive up to San Rafael to see Pete's portrait? I didn't know this chip existed at the time, but you can view it here: ChipGuide # CG 023545.

NANCY AND I WERE IN THE MIDST OF A TRIP UP TO BATTLE CREEK, MI (THE LONG WAY THROUGH THE UPS) FOR THEIR 2ND SHOW. WE HAD COME FROM WATERLOO, IA ON THAT LEG OF THE JOURNEY. DRIVING THROUGH MINNEAPOLIS-ST PAUL WAS A HARROWING EXPERIENCE TO YOURS TRULY, AS IS ALL LARGE CITIES. WE HAD STOPPED A BIT AT THE LITTLE SIX CASINO EARLIER FOR A FEW CHIPS.
WHEN WE GOT TO COLUMUS, MN WE WERE BASICALLY LOST. ANY WE FINALLY FOUND OUR WAY TO THE “TRACK”. WE WANTED TO GRAB A BITE TO EAT. WHAT WE FOUND WAS QUITE EXTRAORDINARY.
WE TOLD THE YOUNG LADY THAT WE WERE LOOKING FOR ANY ARTICLES WITH THE LOGO FROM RUNNING ACES. WHEN WE WALKED OUT OF THE PLACE WE HAD TWO SHOPPING BAGS OF GOODIES. WE HAD SEVERAL DECKS OF CARDS, COUNTLESS TRINKETS, T-SHIRTS AND CHIPS FROM THE BACK OF THE CASHIERS CAGE. I FELT THAT THE YOUNG LADY COULD OF DOUBLED AS THE CHAIRMAN OF THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR THE TOWN OF COLUMBUS, MN.
RUNNING ACES HAD ONLY BEEN OPEN ABOUT A YEAR. IT WAS A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE AND VERY GOOD HARVEST, CLEVERLY DISGUISED AS A PIT STOP…REGGIE

MANY YEARS AGO I STARTED MY POSTING, BY POSTING “A SET OF THE DAY” I THINK I HAD ABOUT 300-400 SETS ALL TOGETHER. THAT WAS A LOT OF FUN BACK THEN.
AND NOW, I WILL START HAVING A REGULAR SET OF THE DAY WITH MY OTHER FEATURES WHEN I DISPLAY A “PAGE OF THE DAY”.
I AM REDUCING PRICES ON MOST OF THESE SETS, SOME WILL BE FACE VALUE, SO IF YOU SEE SOMETHING YOU LIKE AND WANT, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE IN SENDING ME AN EMAIL, PUTTING A SOLD SIGN ON THE CB IS NOT THE WAY TO GUARANTEE YOUR PURCHASE OR TRADE. SEE POD FOR P/H RATES. SEND ME AN EMAIL FOR ORDERS OR QUESTIONS…Reggie

I WILL BE FEATURING ONE STATE PER PAGE OF THE DAY IN THE FUTURE. PLEASE, NO CHERRY PICKING REQUESTS, UNTIL I BREAK DOWN THE STATES INTO INDIVIDUAL CHIPS. IT WILL BE ONE TO TWO YEARS (2019-2020)BEFORE I BREAK ANY OF THE LARGER STATES AND WHEN I DO I WILL MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT.
A WORD ON WHAT APPEARS TO BE DUPLICATES ON THE PAGES. THESE ARE UV OR MOLD VARIATIONS. I AM NOT GOING TO PULL THESE OUT AT THIS TIME. SHOULD THIS BECOME A NEGOTIATING FACTOR AND THE BUYER ONLY WANTS JUST ONE CHIP AND THE UV’S AND MOLDS MATTER NOT, THEN I WILL REMOVE THEM AND ADJUST THE PRICE ACCORDINGLY.
FOLKS, MANY OF THESE CHIPS ARE ALIVE, AND STILL BEING USED ON THE TABLES TODAY. SHOULD YOU BE NEAR BY A CLUSTER OF CASINOS FROM ANY PARTICULAR STATE, YOU PROBABLY CAN COME OUT AHEAD. ALSO, PLEASE KNOW THAT I CONSTANTLY OVER THE LAST 12 YEARS UP GRADED. I BOUGHT ANY NEW CASINO ISSUES WHEN THEY COME OUT FROM THE LOCAL CHIPPER THAT OFFERED THEM FOR SALE ON THE CHIPBOARD.
