I made the mistake years ago of using my email password for my PayPal account - once the hackers had my email password, they had easy access to my PayPal funds (and, indirectly, the bank accounts attached to it). I was fortunate that PayPal caught it in time, but their employee gave me helpful advice: never use your email password for any other accounts. Use unique passwords for all accounts so hacking one doesn't lead to easy entry to all.
