Quents or Quent’s Club London, was acquired by Ladbrokes, but was denied in the relicensing application in December 30, 1979. Ladbrokes planned to change the name of the club during its application for relicensing, from Quents/Quent’s Club as to “Quentins Casino” during the renewal applications. Ladbroke and Co. was sold to an investors group led by Cyril Stein in 1957.”
“Ladbrokes started as a commission agent bookmakers with Arthur Binder a horse trainer in the village of Ladbroke with friends Harry Schwind & Pendleton founded in 1886. Backing the horses to laying them, they act as both a bookmaker and a punter. The budding trio called themselves the Ladbrokes. By 1902 they moved to London, Ladbrokes’ London offices, originally in the vicinity of the Strand moved to Hanover Square in 1906 and by 1913 they moved to Six Old Burlington Street, Mayfair.
