Nowadays, the Chinese can duplicate almost anything with varying degrees of accuracy so why not chips?

Whenever I score at a casino these days they won't cash the big chips until verifying with a pit boss.

I am not advocating slabbing .. just saying that counterfeiting is a reality. Sometimes even the casinos are fooled by fakes of their own chips:
