Hello to my fellow club members,
Nominations and Elections will soon be upon us and I feel the need to give some guidance to people wishing to run for office.
Next years elections will be very important ones and should not be taken lightly. The positions involve and lot of time and effort and any person willing to run should be prepared to commit their time and effort to the end. There is a semi annual meeting in Las Vegas and of course the time involved at the convention which is required. The club officers as a rule do not have much personal time as their duties require them to be engaged. You must demonstrate a willingness to commit to such endeavors. Specifically the jobs of Treasurer and Membership can be full time jobs. They require constant involvement with the membership.
I am not trying to thwart anyone's aspirations on helping the club. The members I serve with very dedicated people and work tirelessly to accomplish their jobs. Anyone running for office should have a clear understanding of what that position involves, and make a commitment to the club and themselves. If you truly care what happens to the club them make that commitment because if you don't you will actually hurt the organization you care about.
In our Bylaws section you will see the section under OFFICERS AND THEIR RESPOSIBILITIES. These are a broad definitions and I will within the next few days offer you a little more insight. In the mean time I would suggest you maybe contact some of the club members who served in those positions to get a better understanding.
I thank you for your time.
