When casinos changed to clad strikes they began using the colored capsules. Red is for premium, limited edition strikes and the center is .999 silver. Blue is for limited edition strikes that contain no silver but are hand painted. Clear is for common clad strikes.

It's easy to change capsules so if you're buying be sure the strike in a red capsule says .999 silver.
