I have scanned a few slides with my Epson V500. Here is a link to a Youetube video on how to do it. At $40 per slide you could afford to buy a great scanner if you don't already have one.

Here are a couple of the slides I scanned. The slides are very old - from 1957 - and quite faded out. I thought the images came out great.
